Mechanical Assembly & Automation Technician

As a Mechanical Assembly & Automation Technician, you will be responsible for the assembly, installation, maintenance, and optimization of machinery and automation systems for industrial customers.

You will work closely with Project Managers, Commissioning Engineers, PLC Programmers, and customer teams to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.

As part of our international automation network, approximately 90% of travel is within the United States, supporting customer installations, machinery relocations, automation projects, production startups, and service assignments.

The remaining 10% of travel may involve international assignments, including Europe and other global customer locations, depending on project requirements and resource needs.

Qualifications

• Technical degree, apprenticeship, certification, or equivalent experience in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Industrial Maintenance, Mechatronics, Manufacturing Technology, or a related field
• Experience in machinery assembly, industrial maintenance, equipment installation, or machine building preferred
• Strong understanding of mechanical systems and industrial equipment
• Knowledge of pneumatics, sensors, bearings, drives, and mechanical components
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, assembly instructions, and technical documentation
• Experience using common mechanical assembly and measurement tools
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
• Independent and detail-oriented work style
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Customer-focused attitude and professional appearance
• Valid driver's license
• Valid passport or ability to obtain one
• Authorization to work in the United States

Key Responsibilities

• Assemble machinery, equipment, and automation systems according to engineering drawings, assembly instructions, and technical documentation
• Install and support machinery and production systems at customer facilities
• Perform mechanical assembly, machine installation, alignment, and setup activities
• Support new machine installations, equipment upgrades, and expansion projects
• Conduct maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting activities on industrial equipment
• Perform mechanical inspections, testing, and quality checks
• Verify machine functionality and ensure equipment meets operational requirements
• Adjust, document, and verify machine settings and operating parameters
• Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical, pneumatic, and equipment-related issues
• Support production startups and machine acceptance activities
• Assist with Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT)
• Work closely with PLC Programmers, Electricians, Commissioning Engineers, and customers
• Create service reports, installation documentation, and project records
• Maintain high standards of workmanship, safety, and quality
• Support domestic and international customer projects as required

Travel & International Collaboration

• Approximately 90% domestic travel within the United States
• Approximately 10% international travel, including Europe and other global customer locations
• Support customer installations, equipment relocations, service assignments, and automation projects
• Collaborate with customers, partners, and UAH teams worldwide
• Support international projects when additional resources are required
• Ability to travel on short notice when project schedules require additional support
