About the Role

As a Project Manager – Industrial Automation, you will be responsible for the successful planning, execution, and delivery of complex automation and custom machinery projects. You will serve as the primary interface between customers, engineering, software development, assembly, commissioning teams, and external partners, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

You will support projects from initial customer requirements and technical concept development through project execution, commissioning, and final acceptance. In this role, you will coordinate multidisciplinary teams, manage resources, and maintain clear communication across all project stakeholders.

As part of our international automation network, you will collaborate closely with teams across Europe and the United States. In addition to supporting regional customer projects, you will contribute to international initiatives and help leverage the global expertise and resources of the United Automation Hub organization.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field
  • Alternatively, a technical apprenticeship/trade qualification with advanced training and relevant professional experience
  • Several years of experience in custom machinery, industrial equipment manufacturing, or industrial automation
  • Proven experience leading complex customer projects
  • Strong understanding of mechanical design, electrical systems, and industrial control technologies
  • Experience in at least one of the following areas: PLC-programming, robotics, machine vision, assembly, or commissioning
  • Ability to translate customer requirements into structured, cost-effective project plans
  • Self-motivated, organized, and solution-oriented work style
  • Strong communication and leadership skills
  • Professional and confident customer-facing presence
  • Excellent English language skills
  • German language skills are a plus but not required
  • Willingness to travel regularly to customer sites and occasionally throughout the United States
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Authorization to work in the United States

Key Responsibilities

As a Project Manager, you will take ownership of customer projects from project hand off through final acceptance.

  • Plan, manage, and oversee custom machinery and industrial automation projects
  • Ensure successful delivery regarding scope, schedule, budget, quality, and project objectives
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams including mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, software development, robotics, assembly, and commissioning
  • Serve as the primary point of contact between customers, suppliers, partner companies, and internal departments
  • Gather, analyze, and clarify customer requirements
  • Develop and maintain project plans, schedules, milestones, and status reports
  • Organize and facilitate project meetings, design reviews, and internal/external acceptance activities
  • Coordinate FAT (Factory Acceptance Testing), installation, commissioning, and SAT (Site Acceptance Testing)
  • Identify project-related and financial risks at an early stage
  • Manage scope changes and process change requests
  • Support project costing, proposal development, and solution design activities
  • Ensure complete and well-structured project documentation
  • Build and maintain long-term customer relationships
